Logitech’s ConferenceCam CC3000e delivers enterprise-level features at a price SMBs can afford. The kit comprises a PTZ camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, a speakerphone base station, and a powered central hub to link them all together. The chunky base unit supports Bluetooth and NFC, and there’s a handy remote for controlling the camera’s PTZ functions and calls.
When not in use, the remote fits neatly into a recess in the base station. The camera and base station connect to the hub via the supplied 16ft cables; the hub is then connected to the host system via a 10ft USB cable. Setup is a breeze: all the components are numbered and there’s a bracket for wall-mounting the cameras.
The CC3000e uses H.264 encoding to minimise network bandwidth, and Logitech has restricted the unit’s Bluetooth range so it doesn’t interfere with conferences in adjacent rooms. It’s also UVC compliant, so it supports all major applications – Microsoft Lync 2010 and 2013, Skype, Cisco Jabber and WebEx.
Image quality is excellent. Full HD video benefits from the lens’ sharp focus, while good contrast and colour balance give images a natural look. A 90-degree field of view, together with wide panand- tilt travel, means the camera can cover a large group of people, and the picture stays sharp up to the maximum 10x optical zoom.
The base station’s dual microphones work well, with remote attendees reporting they could hear participants clearly, although speaking from 10ft away caused noticeable distortion. The internal speaker, meanwhile, easily filled a large meeting room. Using the Bluetooth button on the base station, we had no problems pairing the CC3000e with phones. We could accept and end calls using the base station or remote control, and found that call quality was very clear. The CC3000e offers classy videoconferencing features at a sensible price. It’s easy to deploy, simple to use, and delivers great performance. Price: £557 exc VAT Supplier www.lambda-tek.com
